Granville Studio of Visual Arts (GSVA)
Located in a renovated building at the historic Bryn Du Mansion complex, Granville Studio of Visual Arts offers art education classes for PreK to adults. Attached to the art studio, The Eddie Wolfe Gallery showcases the work of GSVA students and is open and FREE to the public Saturdays from 12-4 p.m.  GSVA’s mission is to build minds and cultivate innovative attitudes by providing a level of creative-thinking education and visual literacy training unobtainable through traditional institutions. All of our curricula combine studio art training with an appropriate level of art history and visual art theory. We celebrate all student work and round out our students’ educational experiences by showcasing their work in a professional gallery setting. The Journey Program The keystone of the Journey curriculum is the principle of nurturing each individual’s unique creative vision. The Journey Program classes build students’ skills and knowledge while creating a context for personal exploration. This approach, along with ample opportunities for personal reflection and group work, creates a flexible and supportive environment in which teachers can cultivate the creative courage and risk-taking tendencies that are necessary for innovation. GSVA developed its curricula and teaching methods in consultation with Harvard University’s Project Zero and the Ohio Department of Education. Designed to develop students’ right-brain capacities, the Journey Program maximizes the benefits of visual learning through a sustained and cumulative curriculum. The curriculum is organized into 10-week series with each series incorporating various art elements, principles, media and techniques in relation to a specific theme. The curriculum is designed to integrate with public school instruction and help students meet State Content Standard benchmarks in all subject areas. Once students have completed a given series, they will be prepared to enroll in subsequent series. The Journey Program is structured in this prerequisite manner to build skill sets over time, but progression is never achievement based.
